
Tension has gripped residents of Byazhin Across in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, after gunmen attacked the community early Thursday morning, killing a vigilante and abducting four people, including an 11-year-old child.
The attackers stormed the area behind the Catholic Church around 1:00 a.m. on June 4, firing shots into the air as residents scrambled for safety. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen broke into several homes, took food items, and kidnapped four residents before fleeing the scene.
A local vigilante who was shot during the attack was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

The incident has heightened fear in Byazhin Across, where residents say repeated attacks have become common in recent months. One resident described the situation as alarming, saying, “This repeated attack on Byazhin Across is causing huge fear in us. Nowhere is safe. President Tinubu, even your FCT is not safe.”
Another resident questioned the impact of security patrols in the area, alleging that attacks continue despite the presence of soldiers. “The Army only patrol and nothing is done. There’s repeated attack. This time the bandits came with a bus. We are not safe,” the resident said.
The latest attack adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
