The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has debunked reports of a suspected kidnapping at Phase 1 Primary School, Gbagalape, Abuja, confirming that no abduction took place.
According to the police, the incident, which sparked widespread panic in the area, was triggered by a false alarm within the school premises.
The Police Public Relations Officer disclosed that officers from the Nyanya Division were alerted around 10:30 a.m. following claims that armed men had stormed the school and abducted pupils.
In response, the Divisional Police Officer swiftly deployed personnel and surveillance teams to the scene.
However, preliminary investigations revealed that the panic began when some pupils started shouting “kidnappers” and ran out of their classrooms, causing fear among teachers and nearby residents.
Security operatives immediately secured the school and carried out a comprehensive search of the premises and surrounding areas.
