Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested several suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP logistics suppliers in Borno State, as part of intensified counter-terrorism operations across Nigeria’s North-East.
The arrests were disclosed on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, who said the successes were recorded under the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity V.
According to Uba, the operations driven by intelligence gathering and surveillance
led to major breakthroughs, including the disruption of terrorist supply chains, arrest of collaborators, and recovery of arms and ammunition.
Among those apprehended was a 40-year-old suspect, Girema Aliko, arrested at Benisheikh Market while attempting to transport 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit. He reportedly confessed to supplying fuel and other logistics to terrorist groups.
In a separate operation, troops arrested another suspect, Mohammed Bulama, 25, in the Muna Garage area of Maiduguri. Preliminary investigations linked him to terrorist informant activities.
The military also arrested an absconded soldier, Private Umar Bema, who allegedly deserted his unit with a weapon. He was apprehended in Maiduguri, with authorities linking him to criminal activities, including robbery. His rifle and ammunition were recovered.
Further operations led to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper in Biu Local Government Area, who reportedly confessed to involvement in kidnapping and cattle rustling, as well as connections between criminal gangs and terrorist networks.
