
Suspected bandits have reportedly killed one resident and abducted two women during a late-night attack on a Fulani settlement in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The incident occurred on Monday evening in the Sodo/Sawmill area on the outskirts of the town, throwing the community into panic.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the attackers stormed the settlement around 8 p.m., firing gunshots indiscriminately and causing residents to flee for safety.
The gunmen were said to be targeting a prominent Fulani leader in the area but were unable to locate him.
Following the failed attempt, the assailants reportedly abducted two women believed to be wives of the community leader before escaping into a nearby forest.

One resident was fatally shot during the attack.
Security operatives responded to distress calls, while military personnel engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police stated that one person lost his life, while two women, aged 25 and 35, were kidnapped.
He added that preliminary investigations indicate the attackers specifically targeted the Fulani leader but failed in their mission.
Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, assuring residents that efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend those responsible.
The attack has once again raised concerns over rising insecurity in Edu and surrounding areas, with residents calling for stronger security presence and proactive measures to curb criminal activities in the Kwara North region.
