Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 23 passengers abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Ayegunle–Bunu Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack happened around 3:30 a.m. on Monday when armed men blocked the road and targeted travelers. Several passengers were taken before soldiers from the 12 Brigade in Kabba responded to a distress call and moved to the scene.
By the time the troops arrived, the attackers had fled. Soldiers found two dead bodies and five injured victims at the location. Two Toyota commercial buses and a HOWO truck, abandoned by the roadside, were also recovered.

The Army said operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing attackers and locate any remaining victims. Surveillance and clearance efforts have also been stepped up along the Ayegunle–Bunu axis, which has seen repeated cases of kidnapping and banditry in recent weeks.
