
The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of six suspects linked to a violent attack on residents of Keku village in Musawa Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the incident occurred on May 27, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., when the suspects allegedly stormed the village armed with sticks and machetes, inflicting injuries on several residents.
Aliyu disclosed that security operatives swiftly responded to a distress call, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspects and preventing further escalation of the violence.
The arrested individuals were identified as Dayyabu Salisu (25), Usama Mansur (23), Yunusa Nura (27), Abdulmumini Alka (23), Buhari Suleiman (27), and Abubakar Safiyanu (27).
Items recovered from the suspects include machetes, sticks, and motorcycles believed to have been used during the attack.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the group conspired to disrupt the peaceful Sallah celebrations and destabilize the relative calm in the area.

The prompt response of the police operatives helped to contain the situation and prevented further breakdown of law and order,” Aliyu stated.
He added that the injured victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment and responding positively.
The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, has strongly condemned the attack, reiterating the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He further emphasized a zero-tolerance stance against thuggery, mob violence, and any actions capable of disrupting public peace.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
