
A driver was killed in a tragic road accident in the early hours of Saturday after his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) crashed and overturned multiple times at Iyana Isolo in Lagos State.
The fatal incident occurred at Charity Bus Stop along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway and involved a Honda Pilot SUV. According to reports, the vehicle suddenly lost control, causing it to somersault repeatedly before coming to a stop.
The impact of the crash left the vehicle extensively damaged, trapping the driver inside the wreckage. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who were on routine traffic monitoring duties in the area, quickly responded to the emergency.
Working alongside personnel from the Mosafejo Police Division, they recovered the driver’s body and ensured smooth traffic flow around the accident scene.

The remains of the deceased were later evacuated to a public mortuary by officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, while the wrecked vehicle was handed over to the police for further investigation.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to exercise caution while driving.
He warned road users against reckless driving, speeding, dangerous overtaking, and other traffic violations that could lead to avoidable accidents, stressing that the preservation of human life should remain the highest priority on the roads.
The crash adds to a growing number of fatal road accidents recorded in recent days, renewing calls for greater adherence to traffic regulations and safer driving practices across the country.
