The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspects linked to a motorcycle theft syndicate operating across Lagos and Ogun States, while also recovering five stolen motorcycles during a coordinated operation.
Operatives of the Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos through the Dragon Team carried out the operation following a petition submitted on April 12, 2026, alerting the Assistant
Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Olohundare Jimoh, about rising cases of motorcycle theft in Sagamu and Ijebu Ode areas of Ogun State.
According to police authorities, intelligence gathered revealed that the suspects were part of a wider network that allegedly stole motorcycles in Ogun communities and sold them across different locations, including Ogere, Ojodu Berger, Mushin, and other parts of the country.
Acting on the petition, operatives launched an investigation into the syndicate’s activities, which led to an ambush at the Sagamu Interchange on May 19, 2026.
Three suspects were subsequently arrested: 29-year-old Sulaimon Mohammed, 26-year-old Ibrahim Saliu, and 48-year-old Abdullahi Usman.

Investigations showed that Ibrahim Saliu and other accomplices, currently at large, specialized in stealing motorcycles during late-night hours, between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. The group reportedly targeted parked motorcycles, tampered with steering locks, and rewired ignition systems to steal them.
Further findings revealed that stolen motorcycles were handed over to other members of the syndicate for resale. Police say about 50 motorcycles may have been stolen across the Sagamu and Ijebu Ode axis before the gang was disrupted.
Items recovered include three unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycles, one unregistered Daylong motorcycle, and one unregistered Lifan motorcycle.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the syndicate.
