
A senior officer of the Nigerian Army, Major S. Sayyadi, has lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Kaduna–Zaria Highway near Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State.
The incident reportedly occurred on May 21 near the Julius Berger gate in Jaji.
Sources said the officer, who served with the Headquarters Infantry Corps Command (ICC), was driving along the expressway when his vehicle collided with a Sino truck attempting to enter the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) railway construction site around the New Barracks axis.

The impact of the crash reportedly left the army officer with severe head injuries.
Emergency response teams from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) and the Infantry Corps Command were said to have arrived at the scene shortly after the accident to provide assistance.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to stabilise him, Major Sayyadi was later confirmed dead.
His body was evacuated from the crash scene and taken to a medical facility before being transported to Katsina State in a military ambulance for burial.
Sources added that the late officer was buried in Katsina in accordance with Islamic rites.
