Oyo State Governor: Seyin Makinde
The Oyo State Government has dismissed widespread reports circulating on social media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted during last Friday’s attack in Oriire Local Government Area have been released.
Abayomi Fagbenro, Special Adviser on Security to Governor Seyi Makinde, described the reports as false, stating that as of Thursday morning, no such development had occurred.
“As of 10:35 am, it’s not true,” he clarified in response to media inquiries.
The attack, which took place in the Ahoro-Esinle/Yawota axis of Ogbomoso, targeted three schools and resulted in the death of at least two individuals.
Approximately 30 pupils, students, and teachers were abducted during the incident, sparking nationwide concern.
Despite viral claims suggesting the victims had regained freedom, authorities maintain that no official confirmation supports such reports.
Some social media users had also expressed skepticism, noting the absence of credible coverage from mainstream media.
The Oyo State Police Command echoed the government’s position.
