Harry Maguire has expressed disappointment after being left out of England’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup by manager Thomas Tuchel.
The defender said he was “shocked and gutted” by the decision after learning he would not be included in the 26-man squad set to compete in the tournament in North America.
Maguire, who recently returned to the England setup under Tuchel in March, believed his performances for Manchester United this season had earned him a place in the squad.

In a statement shared on social media, the 33-year-old said he felt capable of playing a major role for his country this summer, adding that representing England had always been one of the proudest moments of his career.
Despite his omission, Maguire wished the squad success at the tournament.
The experienced centre-back has earned 66 caps for England and played a key role for Manchester United since former interim boss Michael Carrick took charge earlier this year, helping the club secure a third-place finish in the Premier League.
