A viral video has sparked widespread outrage after a man identified as a Nigerian police officer openly threatened to kill anyone who attempts to record him while on duty.
The officer, who introduced himself as Newton Isokpehi and claimed to have served in the Nigeria Police Force for 26 years, made the shocking remarks in a video that circulated widely across social media platforms on Wednesday.
Speaking in Pidgin English, Isokpehi issued direct and aggressive warnings to both civilians and fellow officers. He vowed to shoot anyone who tries to film him during operations, as well as target any superior officer who may have authorized the recording of police personnel.
In the video, he said anyone bold enough to approach him with a camera should be prepared for deadly consequences, adding that he would not hesitate to “clear everybody” in the vicinity if provoked.
The officer also expressed frustration over the welfare conditions within the force, citing years of hardship and lack of adequate support.
He displayed what he described as gunshot wounds on his body, using them as evidence of the sacrifices he and other officers have made in service.

Despite his grievances, his threats have been widely condemned by the public, with many Nigerians describing his conduct as dangerous, unprofessional, and reflective of deeper issues within the policing system.
Investigations into his identity revealed a TikTok account bearing his name, where he had shared multiple videos of himself in police uniform.
The controversial clip has since been deleted, although other content remains visible on the account.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have not confirmed whether Isokpehi is an active member of the Nigeria Police Force, and no official statement has been released regarding the incident.
The development has reignited conversations around police accountability, citizens’ rights to document public officials, and the urgent need for reforms within the security sector.
