Authorities in Ebonyi State have suspended the headteachers of two public primary schools after a viral video exposed pupils learning in dilapidated classrooms with poor facilities.
The affected schools, located in Ezza North Local Government Area, were identified as Ekka Integration Primary School and Community Primary School Umuora Obulechi Oriuzor.
The controversy began after a local social media platform shared footage showing nursery school pupils receiving lessons in poorly maintained classrooms with unfinished walls and inadequate learning materials.
The video quickly attracted public attention and sparked criticism over the state of public education infrastructure in the area.
Following the online reactions, the Ezza North Local Government Education Authority reportedly issued suspension letters to the affected headteachers.

According to reports, the school heads were accused of being linked to the circulation of information about the schools on social media.
However, the content creator behind the viral video denied claims that the headteachers invited him to film the schools.
He explained that he often passed through the area and decided to document the difficult learning conditions after seeing the situation faced by the children.
The social media platform also appealed to Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, to intervene in the matter and address the conditions in the schools.
The incident has since generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians condemning the suspension of the school heads instead of focusing on improving infrastructure and learning conditions in rural public schools.
