Operatives of the Kogi State Police Command have arrested a 52-year-old man, Chris Amos, for allegedly transporting 339 wraps of substances suspected to be cannabis in Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
The State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Lokoja on Tuesday.
According to him, the arrest was carried out on May 9, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. following intelligence-led policing and routine stop-and-search operations by officers attached to the Kabba Area Command.
Kankarofi explained that the suspect was intercepted while driving a Honda Pilot Jeep with registration number LSD 456 GE. Another individual, identified as Bilat Joseph, was also in the vehicle at the time of the arrest.
“A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 339 wraps of substances reasonably suspected to be Indian hemp concealed inside,” the police commissioner stated.

Kankarofi added that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
He emphasized that drug trafficking remains a major contributor to violent crimes and assured residents of the command’s commitment to sustaining operations aimed at dismantling criminal syndicates across the state.
The commissioner also commended members of the public for providing credible information that has supported ongoing security efforts.
