
A late-night attack in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State has left one person dead and two others hospitalized.
According to security sources quoted by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on May 17, 2026, when troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Bingi received a distress call reporting an attack on Dan Jugku village.
Troops attached to the 1 Brigade Combat Team reportedly responded swiftly to the scene and discovered that three residents had been shot during the assault.

One of the victims was confirmed dead at the scene, while the two injured persons were evacuated to a clinic in Bingi for treatment.
Security operatives have since intensified patrols in surrounding communities as efforts continue to restore calm and track down those responsible for the attack.
