Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has described reports of Pep Guardiola leaving Manchester City at the end of the season as a major turning point for English football.
Neville made the comments on Sky Sports while reacting to widespread claims that the City manager will step down this summer. He said Guardiola’s departure would rank alongside some of the most significant managerial exits in Premier League history.
“This is gamechanger news,” Neville said. “They’re huge moments in football. I don’t see it as news Manchester City would want out there at this moment ahead of the Bournemouth game.”

The former England right-back compared the situation to the departures of Sir Alex Ferguson from Manchester United, Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool, and Kenny Dalglish from Liverpool. He argued that losing a manager of Guardiola’s stature would shift the balance of power in the league.
Guardiola has led City to six Premier League titles and a Champions League crown since arriving in 2016, making his exit one of the most anticipated storylines of the season.
