
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been placed in Pot A for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualification draw, setting them among the continent’s top seeds.
The draw is scheduled to hold on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Egypt Football Association in Cairo. Nigeria will join other heavyweights including Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire and Tunisia in the top pot.
A total of 48 countries will take part in the qualifying series for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The top two teams from each group will advance to the final competition.

The 2027 AFCON is slated to run from 19 June to 17 July 2027 across the three East African nations.
Placement in Pot A means the Super Eagles will avoid facing other top-ranked African sides in the group stage of the qualifiers, boosting their chances of securing a smooth path to the tournament.
