
The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued a 10-day-old baby stolen from the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda and arrested one suspect in connection with the case.
According to police spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar, the incident was reported at the Kaura Namoda Division three days before the child was recovered. Hospital staff on duty at the time were invited for questioning to assist ongoing investigations into the suspected case of human trafficking and baby theft.
On May 15, 2026, at about 8:35 a.m., operatives recovered the infant unharmed in a nearby hamlet. The location was withheld for security reasons. The baby has since been reunited with the biological parents.

One suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue. Police said the case involves allegations of human trafficking and possible baby factory operations.
Zamfara Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Bello, commended members of the public for providing timely information that led to the rescue.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling all forms of criminality and assured that further updates would be released as the investigation progresses.
