
Gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa group have allegedly killed two officers of the Nigeria Customs Service in Tuga community, Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when the armed men invaded two nearby security checkpoints around 3am.
According to a local source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the attackers arrived in a truck said to be disguised as a vehicle conveying animals, allowing them to catch the officers off guard.

The source stated that one junior officer, described as a “one-star” officer, was shot dead during the assault, while a senior officer, a “three-star” rank holder, was reportedly burnt alive after the attackers set fire to the location where he was sleeping.
“They attacked two checkpoints that are very close to each other,” the source said. “They shot one officer and burnt the other alive.”
The source further added that two other officers who sustained gunshot injuries are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service in Kebbi State, Mustapha Mubarak, said the command would issue an official statement after obtaining full details of the incident, noting that he could neither confirm nor deny the attack at the time.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bashir Usman, was also not available for comment as of the time of filing this report.
