
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested three persons with disabilities over alleged involvement in drug trafficking operations across Anambra and Kwara states.
The agency also uncovered a luxury mansion in Lekki, Lagos State, allegedly used as a drug stash house, where cannabis worth over N5.8bn was recovered.
According to the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, the arrests followed a series of intelligence-led operations carried out between May 6 and May 8.
One of the suspects, 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara, was arrested in Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State, after operatives allegedly recovered 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets from him.
In another operation in the Ogbunike area of Anambra State, officers arrested 25-year-old Amos Kenneth with different illicit substances, including Tramadol, Diazepam, Exol-5, and skunk.

Babafemi further disclosed that NDLEA operatives on patrol along the Bode Saadu route in Kwara State intercepted a commercial vehicle and arrested another suspect identified as Usman Salisu.
He was allegedly found with 6.3 kilograms of skunk hidden inside a brown school bag.
The agency also announced the discovery of a mansion located at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, allegedly serving as a storage facility for hard drugs.
During the raid, operatives reportedly recovered 4,000 parcels of “Loud,” described as a potent imported strain of cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms with an estimated street value of over N5.815bn.
Two Mercedes-Benz buses and packaging materials allegedly used for drug distribution were also seized from the property.
In Nasarawa State, NDLEA officers arrested 38-year-old Emmanuel Osita Okeke at Nyanya-Karu with 129 kilograms of skunk.
Similarly, along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State, operatives intercepted a commuter bus travelling to Abuja and recovered 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilograms. Three suspects — Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa were arrested in connection with the seizure.
The NDLEA also raided a suspected skuchies production centre in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos, where two suspects identified as Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege were arrested.
According to the agency, 270 litres of the illicit drink and 106 grams of Tramadol were recovered during the operation.
Reacting to the operations, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers involved in the raids and urged commands across the country to sustain the agency’s crackdown on illegal drug trafficking.
