Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Martin Odegaard and David Raya as the decisive figures behind his side’s 1-0 Premier League victory against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.
Leandro Trossard’s late second-half strike sealed all three points for the Gunners, but Arteta said the match was won through moments of individual brilliance from his captain and goalkeeper. Speaking after the game, he singled out Odegaard’s decisive contribution and Raya’s crucial save in the 70th minute as the turning points.
“I think we got rewarded because Martin made an incredible action to win us the game, apart from David’s save in the 70th minute,” Arteta told reporters. “If you want the chance to win major trophies, you need individuals creating those magic moments, and David certainly – like Martin Odegaard – created a moment to win us the game.”
