The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected arms dealer and recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles during a targeted sting operation in Dala Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, took place around the Dandinshe Quarters, leading to the interception of a 35-year-old suspect identified as Umar Danladi Usman.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect was apprehended while driving a Honda Accord vehicle with tinted windows.
A thorough search of both the suspect and the vehicle led to the discovery of three fabricated AK-47 rifles, five live cartridges, an empty shell, three jack knives, a pair of jungle boots, and a suspected fake police identity card.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly sourced the weapons from Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area in Katsina State. He is currently in police custody as authorities intensify efforts to track down other members of the arms supply network.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, noting that the arrest reflects the effectiveness of ongoing reforms focused on intelligence-led policing and enhanced tactical coordination.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating illegal arms trafficking, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the state.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to support security agencies in maintaining public safety.
