
A tragic accident occurred on Friday afternoon, May 8, 2026, at the Building Materials Market, Sharp Corner, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, after a loaded truck carrying glass reportedly collapsed during offloading.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck belonging to a businessman popularly known as ZoomTEC Aluminum, who deals in glasses.
The vehicle had arrived fully loaded, and workers were in the process of offloading the glass when the back of the truck suddenly gave way.
The unexpected collapse trapped some of the offloaders beneath the truck and shattered glass.
Asenexpress.com gathered that one person was later confirmed dead, while others narrowly escaped with injuries and shock.
When the truck collapsed, traders and residents rushed to rescue the trapped man as he screamed loudly for help from beneath the truck and broken glass.
After removing some of the heavy glass placed on top of him, rescuers reportedly discovered that the strong iron frame used to secure the glass was also pressing heavily on his body.
Several people tried lifting the iron and part of the truck manually but could not succeed due to the weight. Emergency responders were contacted and reportedly promised to arrive quickly, but witnesses said there was a delay in their response.

As the situation became more critical, people at the market began searching for alternative ways to save the victim. After several efforts, a truck lifter was eventually brought to the scene to raise the collapsed lorry.
The trapped man was finally pulled out from beneath truck and rushed to the hospital for treatment. However, reports later confirmed that he did not survive the injuries sustained during the incident.
People around the market described the moment as terrifying, especially due to the heavy load of glass being handled under the intense afternoon heat.
Some eyewitnesses blamed the accident on the method used during the offloading process. According to them, the workers were removing the glass from only one side of the truck instead of balancing the weight from both sides, which may have caused the truck to lose balance.
Police officers later arrived at the scene and were seen taking photographs of the incident as part of their preliminary investigation. However, authorities are yet to release official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filling the report.
