Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel was released by Tanzanian police a few hours after he was detained over his failure to perform at a scheduled concert in the East African country.
The singer, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, had been invited to headline a show in Tanzania but reportedly did not appear at the event despite fans already gathering at the venue.
His absence triggered outrage among concertgoers and promoters, many of whom had paid for tickets and travelled long distances to attend the performance.
According to reports, Tanzanian authorities later invited the artiste for questioning following complaints from the event organisers. Videos circulating on social media showed the singer being escorted by police officers, sparking widespread reactions from fans across Africa.

Kizz Daniel’s management later explained that the singer was unable to perform because some essential production and travel arrangements were not properly handled before the concert.
The team expressed regret over the incident and apologised to fans who were disappointed by the cancellation.
After several hours in police custody, the singer was released following discussions involving the organisers, his legal representatives and Tanzanian authorities.
Sources said efforts were also made to calm angry fans and resolve disputes connected to the failed concert.
The incident quickly became a trending topic online, with supporters calling for better coordination between African event promoters and international artistes to prevent similar controversies in the future.
Neither Tanzanian police nor the singer’s representatives announced any immediate legal action after his release, though organisers reportedly continued talks over possible compensation for affected fans.
