In a decisive blow to the illicit drug trade in Yobe State, police operatives have arrested four suspected drug dealers during a high-stakes raid on a known criminal hideout. The operation, which took place on Wednesday afternoon, targeted the Borno Kichi Market in Kolere Village, Fune Local Government Area, a location notorious for harboring criminal elements and facilitating drug peddling.
The Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the arrests in a statement released Thursday in Damaturu. He disclosed that the coordinated strike was spearheaded by the Area Command, Potiskum, around 3:00 PM. The tactical intervention aimed to dismantle the logistics of local gangs who have long used the market as a base for their illegal activities.

During the sweep, security forces seized a significant haul of illicit substances intended for distribution. The recovered exhibits included several packets of Tramadol capsules, an assortment of unidentified hard drug tablets, a large quantity of Indian hemp, and bottles of “Sholi,” a hazardous rubber solution frequently abused by local youth.
The four suspects in custody have been identified as Hafizu Adamu (25), Babale Idi (25), Shuaibu Mohammed (35), and Shuaibu Musa (22). All individuals are confirmed residents of Kolere Village. SP Abdulkarim emphasized that the command is currently conducting a thorough investigation to trace the wider network of their suppliers. Once the preliminary inquiry is complete, the suspects will be formally charged in a court of law to face the full weight of the justice system.
