
Operatives of the Borno State Police Command have successfully neutralised an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) found in Maiduguri, averting what could have been a serious security threat.
The device, concealed inside a backpack, was discovered on Tuesday morning at Layin Logo in the Moduganari area during a routine surveillance and foot patrol by police operatives.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahim Daso, the suspicious bag was spotted at about 9:00 a.m., prompting immediate response from security personnel.
“The Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit Base 13 was quickly deployed to the scene, where the object was identified as an Improvised Explosive Device and safely detonated in line with standard operating procedures,” the statement said.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the incident.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or movements to the nearest security agency for prompt action.
The police further stated that investigations are ongoing to determine those behind the device and its intended purpose.
