The attack adds to growing insecurity concerns in rural parts of Kwara State, where farmers and commuters have increasingly become targets of armed groups.
Earlier on the same day, another violent incident was reported in nearby Babanla, where a forest guard identified as Saheed and a civilian, Rashid Oke-Apata, were ambushed while travelling on a motorcycle.
Sources said the attackers opened fire on them, forcing a desperate attempt to flee. During the chaos, the forest guard sustained a machete injury, while Oke-Apata was abducted after being chased and overpowered by the gunmen.
A video from the scene showed the injured forest guard bleeding profusely, with his condition later described as critical but stable.
Residents have continued to call for urgent security intervention as attacks persist across vulnerable communities in the state.
