Nigerian music star Bella Shmurda has described music as a powerful force that goes far beyond entertainment, emphasizing its role in shaping society and driving progress.
Speaking in the For Bunmi documentary, the “Cash App” crooner characterized music as “warfare,” explaining that it serves as a vital tool for societal advancement and emotional healing.
According to him, music plays multiple roles from promoting unity and goodwill to helping individuals cope with life’s challenges. He noted that it has the power to uplift people’s spirits, keep them mentally balanced, and provide an escape from hardship.

“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for society. It is a tool for progress and an instrument of goodwill. It helps keep people sane, puts them in the right state of mind, and allows them to dance away their sorrow while feeling alive and self-aware,” he said.
Bella Shmurda also opened up on how fatherhood has influenced his artistry. The singer revealed that becoming a parent has made him more intentional about the kind of music he creates.
He explained that he now prioritizes making songs his children can be proud of in the future, marking a shift toward more conscious and meaningful content in his work.
