Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have successfully dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing facility in Plateau State, arresting two suspects and recovering weapons along with equipment used in the production of firearms.
The operation, which took place around 5:00 pm on Wednesday, was carried out in Gwandanu Village, located in Langtang North Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Army’s Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the suspects were apprehended while actively fabricating sophisticated weapons.
Describing the raid as a major breakthrough, the Army noted that the operation significantly disrupts the proliferation of illicit arms and criminal activities in the region.
Items recovered from the site include two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, as well as industrial tools such as generating sets, a welding machine, a drilling machine, and other technical equipment used in the illegal production process.
In a separate operation in Kaduna State, troops stationed at Gidan Waya in Jema’a Local Government Area responded swiftly to an attack on Forest Guards and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

The suspects reportedly fled toward the Jaginde Forest axis upon sighting advancing troops, abandoning a motorcycle in the process. One suspect was later apprehended during follow-up operations.
A search of the hideout led to the recovery of additional weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, an AK-49 rifle, a motorcycle, and other items believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects.
The arrested individuals are currently in military custody and undergoing investigation.
Authorities say efforts are underway to uncover the extent of their operations, including possible links to wider criminal networks.
The Army further confirmed that mop-up operations have been intensified in the affected areas to ensure sustained peace and security, while urging citizens to support ongoing efforts by providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
