
Two individuals sustained gunshot injuries after security operatives foiled a suspected kidnap attempt in the Old Kara area of Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred around 7:50 p.m. on April 21, 2026, was swiftly contained following a distress call from a resident who reported that armed hoodlums had invaded a Point of Sale (POS) shop and opened fire.
According to the Oyo State Police Command, operatives responded promptly to the scene, working alongside local hunters to disrupt what authorities described as a planned abduction.
During the exchange of gunfire, two persons were hit but were quickly rescued and taken to a nearby medical facility, where they are currently responding to treatment.

Security personnel have since intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, launching bush combing operations across the area.
Additional deployments have also been made to vulnerable locations to strengthen security and prevent further incidents.
This development comes just days after a similar attack in Onigambari village along the Ijebu-Ode road in Oluyole Local Government Area, where a victim was reportedly killed.
The police have reassured residents of their commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue.
