
Three persons have been confirmed dead following a fatal auto crash that occurred at the Polo Roundabout in Jos, Plateau State, in the early hours of Monday.
The incident, which happened around 2:30 a.m., involved a truck that reportedly lost control before crashing into the roundabout.
The impact of the collision claimed the lives of the driver and two other occupants on the spot.
The Plateau State Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Peter Longsan, confirmed the development, attributing the crash to loss of control.
He warned motorists against reckless driving, particularly during late-night hours when poor visibility and fatigue can significantly impair judgment.
Longsan emphasized the importance of proper vehicle maintenance and urged drivers to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey.

He also stressed strict compliance with speed limits and other traffic regulations as critical measures to prevent road accidents.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as sudden and devastating. A security guard who was returning from a night shift recounted hearing a loud bang before discovering the wreckage at the roundabout, with victims lying motionless.
Another witness, a shop owner in the area, noted that emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident but confirmed that the victims had already lost their lives.
She called on drivers to exercise caution, especially at night, noting that the location has recorded multiple accidents in the past.
The FRSC has commenced investigations into the cause of the crash and reiterated its commitment to promoting road safety. The agency also advised road users to avoid overloading and dangerous driving, stressing that adherence to safety measures remains essential in reducing road fatalities.
In a related development, the FRSC in Kano State recently reported multiple road crashes that resulted in several casualties, further highlighting the urgent need for increased caution among motorists nationwide.
