
A Nigerian woman, identified as Emmanuella Ikhanoba, has been arrested in India after authorities allegedly found her in possession of a large quantity of banned drugs valued at approximately ₦360 million.
The arrest was carried out by operatives of India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Surat railway station in Gujarat. According to reports, Ikhanoba was intercepted while travelling on a train from Delhi, following actionable intelligence received by the agency.
Officials disclosed that about 2.017 kilograms of MDMA, a prohibited synthetic psychoactive substance, was recovered from her during the operation.
The consignment is estimated to be worth over ₹2 crore.
She has since been taken into custody and charged under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985.

In a related development, Indian police also arrested another Nigerian, identified simply as Ikechukwu, during a coordinated raid targeting a drug syndicate in Mahendragarh.
The suspect, described as a major supplier within the network, was apprehended alongside 10 other members of the syndicate. Security operatives reportedly recovered illicit drugs, cash, counterfeit Indian currency, a scooter, and other items during the operation.
Authorities have intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks, with ongoing investigations aimed at exposing the full extent of the syndicate’s operations.
