A generator technician, Yusuf Adebayo, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command over the alleged assault of a seven-year-old girl in Ijebu-Ode.
The incident reportedly occurred while the child was spending her holiday at her aunt’s residence. According to the aunt, she became concerned after noticing an unusual stain on the girl’s clothing while doing laundry, although nothing was initially suspected.
The situation escalated after the child returned home and began complaining of discomfort. Her mother, upon further observation, became worried and gently questioned her, leading to a disclosure that a neighbour had acted inappropriately toward her during her stay.

The family revisited the aunt’s residence, where the child identified the suspect’s apartment. Despite initial denial from the suspect and his wife, the case was reported to the police for proper investigation.
Medical checks later indicated that the child had been harmed, prompting swift action by authorities, who arrested the suspect.
The family also alleged that some individuals attempted to pressure them into dropping the case, including issuing threats.
Confirming the development, the police spokesperson said the suspect has been transferred to the Gender and Domestic Violence Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The suspect remains in custody as the case proceeds.
