A fire outbreak in the Pakata area of Ilorin, Kwara State, has been linked to a power surge, according to the Kwara State Fire Service.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday at about 11:09 a.m., affected a building located at No. 61, Ita-Ogunbo area along Pakata Road.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Hassan Adekunle, the fire involved a structure housing eight rooms and five shops. However, only one shop was impacted by the blaze.
Firefighters responded promptly to the emergency and were able to contain the fire before it spread to other parts of the building or nearby properties.
Preliminary findings indicate that the fire was triggered by a power surge, which ignited flammable materials within the affected shop.
