Victor Osimhen
Turkish Super Lig leaders Galatasaray have received a timely boost with an encouraging fitness update on star striker Victor Osimhen, as the club pushes to secure the league title.
Osimhen, who has been sidelined with an arm injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League play-off clash against Liverpool FC, has already undergone surgery and was initially expected to remain out until the end of April.
However, in a positive development, the Nigerian forward has resumed light running drills at the club’s training ground, raising hopes of an earlier-than-anticipated return.
A statement from the club confirmed the progress:
“Victor Osimhen is doing running drills on the field with his physiotherapist, while Gabriel Sara has started training with the team.”
His potential return could be crucial, especially with a high-stakes derby against rivals Fenerbahçe scheduled for April 26.
Galatasaray’s form has dipped in recent weeks, with back-to-back defeats to Trabzonspor and Liverpool ending their Champions League journey and putting their domestic dominance under pressure.

Despite still sitting top of the table, their lead has been cut to just one point, intensifying the title race with eight matches left to play.
Head coach Okan Buruk is now under mounting scrutiny, with upcoming fixtures against Göztepe and Kocaelispor seen as decisive for both the club’s title ambitions and his future.
Football analyst Rasim Kütahyalı warned that failure to secure victories in those matches could lead to managerial changes.
Osimhen’s absence has been deeply felt, with the prolific striker contributing 12 league goals and seven in European competitions this season.
As the title race enters its final stretch, all eyes will be on his recovery timeline and whether he can return in time to inspire Galatasaray to glory.
