Nigeria’s female cricket team will face a defining test on Tuesday as they take on Rwanda in a high-stakes clash at the Tafawa Balewa Square Oval, Lagos, in the ongoing 2026 Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) Women’s Invitational Tournament, also known as the Patricia Kambarami Cup.
The encounter is shaping up to be a potential top-of-the-table decider, with Rwanda currently leading the standings after securing three wins from three matches. Nigeria, on the other hand, remain unbeaten with two victories and will be looking to extend their strong start.
Head coach Theophilus Ibodeme has maintained a cautious approach ahead of the fixture, choosing not to reveal too much about the team’s strategy.
“Our tactical secrets will unfold as we approach every game,” he said.
“It’s all about adapting our game plan. In the last match, the goal was to bat through the overs, post at least 150 runs, and defend it—and it worked.”
Tuesday’s showdown marks the 27th meeting between both sides since 2019, underlining the growing rivalry.
Rwanda currently hold a slight edge with 13 wins, while Nigeria have recorded 12 victories, with one match ending in a tie.
