Former Wayne Rooney has predicted that teenage sensation Max Dowman could become a Premier League winner while still in school following his historic moment for Arsenal F.C.
The 16-year-old winger etched his name into history after scoring in Arsenal’s 2–0 victory over Everton F.C., becoming the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League.
The win also pushed Arsenal nine points clear at the top of the table, strengthening their title push.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show on Monday, Rooney who previously held the record after scoring for Everton against Arsenal in 2002 at the age of 16 praised the youngster’s composure and self-belief on the pitch.
“He could be a Premier League winner when he’s still finishing school,” Rooney said.

However, the former England captain noted that Dowman may soon have to balance football with his studies as he prepares for his GCSE examinations.
“He’s got an aura and a belief about him,” Rooney added. “What an opportunity for him to be around the squad. Even if he’s not involved as much as he’d like, he’s got many years ahead of him.”
Rooney also reflected on his own early breakthrough in football, revealing that he earned just £75 a week when he scored his famous goal for Everton against Arsenal at the age of 16.
“I was back out playing with my mates on the streets after the game,” he recalled.
Dowman’s remarkable rise has sparked excitement among Arsenal fans, with many believing the teenager could play a key role in the club’s push for Premier League glory this season.
