The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has filed a lawsuit against workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) over their ongoing strike, which has paralyzed government operations.
The Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) initiated an indefinite strike following the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum, resulting in the closure of key offices, including the FCTA Secretariat.
In court filings submitted to the National Industrial Court in Abuja, Wike and the FCTA are seeking an order to prevent the unions from picketing, blocking offices, or otherwise disrupting official activities.

The case has been registered as NICN/ABJ/17/2026 and is slated for hearing on Monday.
Justice E. D. Subilim has approved substituted service of court processes on the union leadership, allowing notices to be served through newspaper publication and postings at the JUAC office within the FCTA Secretariat.
Despite the legal action, JUAC has insisted that the strike will continue, arguing that workers’ demands remain unmet. The union has urged its members to stay at home until further notice.
