A 33-year-old poultry farmer, Oreoluwa Osonuga, has been abducted by armed men at the Ikenne Farm Settlement in Ogun State, with his abductors reportedly demanding ₦500 million for his release.
Osonuga was reportedly kidnapped around 12:05 p.m. on Sunday while leaving the farm settlement. According to the chairman of the settlement, Seye Kehinde, the attackers allegedly opened fire on the farmer’s vehicle before forcing him into a nearby bush.
Security personnel, including police officers and soldiers, were immediately alerted and launched a search operation in the surrounding forest, but the farmer had not been rescued as of Monday.
The kidnappers reportedly contacted the victim’s family on Sunday evening through his phone and demanded ₦500 million as ransom. No further communication had been received from them as of Monday.

The victim’s granduncle, Soga Osonuga, confirmed the abduction and appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to secure his nephew’s safe release.
He said the incident had caused considerable anxiety for the family, describing Osonuga as a young man working hard to build a livelihood through poultry farming.
The development has also renewed concerns among farmers in the area, particularly as another farmer at the settlement was reportedly abducted in April and later released after spending several days in captivity.
Meanwhile, security agencies are continuing efforts to locate the abducted farmer and apprehend those responsible for the incident.
The Ogun State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the matter as of press time.
