Czechia and South Africa played out a 1-1 draw in a Group Stage encounter that burst into life at the beginning and end but struggled to maintain intensity through much of the contest.
The match got off to a flying start as Czechia took the lead after just five minutes, recording the earliest goal of the tournament. Midfielder Sadilek finished confidently after a clever assist from Sojka, giving the Europeans the perfect opening.
Despite falling behind early, South Africa gradually settled into the game and enjoyed spells of possession before halftime. However, Bafana Bafana were unable to turn their growing influence into clear-cut chances, leaving Czechia with their slender advantage at the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Czechia looking the more likely side to extend their lead. Yet the decisive second goal never arrived, keeping South Africa within touching distance heading into the closing stages.
With five minutes remaining, South Africa were handed a lifeline. Maseko’s effort struck an arm inside the penalty area, prompting the referee to award a spot-kick. Mokoena stepped up and calmly converted, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and leveling the score at 1-1.
