The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects in connection with the killing of popular comedian and town crier, Isaac Nwosu, popularly known as Aiza Nwosu, as well as other cult-related killings in Awka, the state capital.
The police also denied allegations that ₦600,000 was collected to secure the release of Miss Nwosu Chikamso Jennifer, who was reportedly arrested in connection with the investigation.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Jennifer’s arrest was linked to an ongoing investigation into the murder and the search for a principal suspect who remains at large.
Ikenga said investigators discovered communication between Jennifer and the suspect on the night of the incident, including an alleged alert that police were closing in on him.

He explained that Jennifer was later released after offering to assist the police in locating the suspect, but the command said she did not provide the expected assistance.
The police maintained that no money was demanded or collected for her release, urging anyone making allegations of extortion or corruption to provide credible evidence.
The investigation into the killing remains ongoing as police continue efforts to apprehend the principal suspect and other persons linked to the alleged cult-related killings.
