
Switzerland have become the latest team to qualify for the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Algeria 2-0 in their Round of 32 clash on Friday.
The Swiss side secured victory with goals from Dan Ndoye and Breel Embolo, ending Algeria’s campaign and earning a place in the knockout stage.

Following the win, Switzerland will face either Colombia or Ghana in the Round of 16 as they continue their quest for World Cup success.
So far, 13 nations have officially booked their places in the Round of 16.
They are Belgium, France, Brazil, Norway, Morocco, Paraguay, Canada, Mexico, England, Portugal, Spain, the United States, and Switzerland.
The remaining Round of 32 matches will determine the final teams to complete the Round of 16 lineup as the tournament progresses.
