Chiwetalu-Agu

Veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu has shared words of wisdom with singles and married individuals, emphasising the importance of caution and self-preservation in relationships.

Agu advised singles to be wary of desperate desires to get married, warning that such desperation can lead to ignoring red flags.

He also cautioned against marrying someone solely based on physical appearance or societal pressure.

Addressing married couples, Agu urged those in unhappy or toxic relationships to seek help or consider ending the marriage.

He emphasised that a person’s happiness and safety are paramount, stating that “marriage is not a do-or-die affair.”

Agu also recommended that individuals conduct thorough background checks on potential spouses before committing to marriage.

The seasoned actor concluded his advice by warning against the dangers of ignoring warning signs in relationships.

He noted that staying in an abusive or toxic relationship can have devastating consequences, emphasising that “divorce is better than dying in the hands of a toxic and abusive partner.”

He said in a video: “Marriage is not a do-or-die affair. If you have an abusive partner, run for your life. If you are in a toxic relationship, run for your life. If you are not happy in your marriage, seek help or run for your life.

“Divorce is better than “rest in peace”. “I want to stay because of my children”. That was how a lady was killed. Now, who will take care of the kids? Is it the man that killed you? Or the relatives who love their own families?

“Always remember to run background checks before marrying someone.

“He is handsome; I want to marry him”: see you, see death. “My mates are all married, but I’m still single”: see you, see death.
