
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued 10 kidnapped victims following a fierce gun battle with suspected terrorists in Gandi Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation, which took place around 5:00 p.m. on July 20, was carried out by troops of the 1 Brigade stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gandi, in collaboration with members of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps.
According to security reports, the troops acted on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected kidnappers and intercepted them at Badanma village. This led to an intense firefight, during which the security forces overpowered the assailants.
Faced with superior firepower, the terrorists fled the scene, abandoning the victims who had been held captive. All 10 victims were rescued unharmed and immediately evacuated to safety.

Following the successful rescue, troops launched a follow-up operation to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle their hideouts.
Security sources noted that the mission highlights the increasing effectiveness of joint operations between the Nigerian Army and local security outfits in combating kidnapping and banditry across Sokoto State.
Efforts are ongoing to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and to strengthen security in vulnerable communities within the region.
