
Troops of the 233 Tank Battalion have arrested nine suspected terrorist collaborators during an operation in Damaturu, Yobe State.
The suspects were apprehended during a covert operation carried out in the state capital following intelligence about the activities of a suspected terrorist network.
The operation was conducted at about 11:20 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, according to security sources.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama said the troops arrested the alleged leader of the group along with eight other members.

Items recovered during the operation included a vehicle, 10 mobile phones, seven ATM cards, seven caps, two cartons of dried fish and ₦376,400 in cash.
The suspects and the recovered items were subsequently handed over to the Headquarters of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, for further investigation.
The arrests are expected to help security authorities establish the activities of the suspected network, identify its contacts and determine whether it has links with terrorist elements operating in the North-East.
