Tension has heightened in Plateau State following the killing of the nephew of Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, National President of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), in a suspected terrorist attack on Jol community in Riyom Local Government Area.
Mwantiri disclosed the incident in a Facebook post on Saturday, alleging that suspected Fulani militias were responsible for the attack.
According to him, the killing occurred barely two months after his younger brother was assassinated in the same community. He revealed that he narrowly escaped death during the earlier attack, which also claimed the life of the second-in-command of Operation Rainbow.

The BYM President further disclosed that security concerns arose during his nephew’s funeral service after residents received intelligence reports that armed assailants were planning another attack on mourners gathered to pay their last respects.
He, however, said security operatives were able to prevent further bloodshed by responding to the alert and securing the area.
The latest killing has renewed concerns over the persistent insecurity in parts of Plateau State, particularly in communities within Riyom Local Government Area.
