Nigeria has been selected to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifiers later this year, marking the second consecutive time the country will stage the tournament.
The competition is scheduled to hold from October 18 to 25, with six African countries expected to participate in the qualifiers.
The participating nations include Nigeria, Gambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Uganda and Zambia, with the top two teams progressing to the regional final next year.
Nigeria previously hosted the tournament in Abuja in 2024 and emerged champions with one match remaining. However, the Yellow Greens narrowly missed out on qualification for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after failing to advance from the regional final stage.

Meanwhile, Tanzania and Ghana have already advanced to the regional final after finishing first and second respectively in the Sub-Regional Qualifier B tournament held earlier this year in Ghana.
Namibia also gained automatic qualification due to their participation in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Elsewhere, Botswana is set to host the Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier A from May 23 to 30 in Gaborone.
Teams expected at the event include Botswana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mali, Rwanda and Sierra Leone. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with the best two teams earning qualification to the regional final in 2027.
