Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have suffered a setback in their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following the cancellation of their planned training tour of the United Kingdom.
The tour, which was scheduled to take place from May 23 to May 28, was expected to feature an international friendly match against Jamaica.
However, the arrangement has now been called off after the Caribbean side withdrew due to administrative challenges.
This development adds to a series of disruptions affecting the Falcons’ build-up, as Cape Verde had earlier pulled out of a proposed double-header friendly last month.

With the UK tour now shelved, the team will have to wait until the next FIFA women’s international window in June to secure competitive fixtures as part of their preparations.
The Super Falcons, led by head coach Justine Madugu, were last in action in March, when they recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in Yaoundé.
As defending champions, Nigeria will be aiming to retain their title when the 2026 WAFCON kicks off in Morocco this July.
