The Kebbi State Police Command has warned that individuals and groups responsible for blocking the Kebbi–Sokoto Federal Highway will face legal action if the practice continues.
The warning followed another blockade on Friday, October 9, 2026, which reportedly disrupted vehicular movement for about three hours. It was the second such incident, following a similar occurrence on September 23.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, condemned the action, describing it as unlawful and a violation of the rights of other road users.
The police noted that the blockade prevented motorists, people requiring emergency medical attention and other members of the public from moving freely and carrying out their lawful activities.

The command also warned that obstructing the federal highway could create opportunities for criminal activities and urged aggrieved individuals to seek lawful means of resolving their grievances.
Residents were advised to channel their complaints through elected representatives, traditional rulers and the Police Community Relations Committee rather than block public roads.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, appealed to residents to respect the rights of others and avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace. He also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against participating in unlawful assemblies.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring the free movement of people and goods across the state, warning that organisers and participants in any future blockade could face investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
