Police operatives have recovered the bodies of five officers killed in an ambush while travelling to Zamfara State for rerun primary election duty, rescuing seven others who were found alive and unharmed.
The operation, carried out by the Force’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and Anti-Kidnapping Unit on November 1, also saw two officers who sustained gunshot wounds evacuated to hospital for treatment.
The Nigeria Police Force said joint security teams had been deployed to comb the area, recover the officers’ stolen firearms and track down those responsible for the attack.
